BluDomain Announces the Launch of Boutwell Studio. Two of America's finest photographers! One thing we know- Chenin and Doug Boutwell are "branding" gurus with a flair for all things cool! We had the pleasure to build their second custom website we; LOVE these guys!
Get to know them the way we know them www.boutwellstudio.com
My name: Chenin Boutwell
Where I reside: The OC
What type of photography I do: Weddings and portraits
My favorite vendor... I love Bludomain, of course! I also love our lab, Fotoworks www.fotoworks.biz
My next big purchase... Just got a new car.... no more purchases for a while.
What I didn't know then that I know now... that you don't need some fancy desk-job to make money. I know now that if you do what you love, money will follow.
Most of my day is spent... editing, designing albums, returning emails.
Three things I have with me on every shoot... cameras, a smile and a happy spirit!
My favorite piece of equipment.. I love my 5d.
An aspect of my business that is challenging... it's tough to balance work time and play time, especially in the busy season.
The forum that I find to be useful.. www.digitalweddingforum.com - absolutely indispensable.
The photographer that I respect in my industry is... David Williams. He manages to make awesome images, run a successful business, reach out to others AND is 100% humble.
Chenin's favorite image of recent
On my feet... right now, nothing. When I go out, Marc Jacobs, Jimmy Choo or Chuck Taylor's.
Something you'll always find in my fridge... champagne. I can't get enough of the stuff!
Favorite way to kill time... watching a Cubs game on the tv.
Something I can't part with... my adorable husband, Doug, and my sort of ugly dog, Murray.
A must have gadget... GPS. Especially important for those directionally-challenged individuals like me.
Something I still have to do in my life... I have this silly goal of visiting every National League ballpark in the country. I just went to a new one last week!
Something that annoys me... that Black Eyed Peas song "My Humps" and anything by Gwen Stefani.
I'm addicted to.... caffeine. I get mean and headache-y if I don't get my coffee fix.
If I could have dinner with anyone in the world it would be... is it cheesy to same "my husband?" It is? Okay, how about Tommy Lee.
My favorite drink besides water... champagne, for sure.
I'll never miss a... episode of "24." Jack Bauer is a rockstar.
Where I reside: The Bowels of The OC
What type of photography I do: Weddings
My favorite vendor... Fotoworks in Irvine - great lab, nice people, and we sometimes get free cake!
My next big purchase...
No more big purchases... I've already bought too much crap.
What I didn't know then that I know now... That I could make money sitting in my pajamas, without selling yayo
Most of my day is spent... Sitting in my pajamas, making money
Three things I have with me on every shoot... A camera, A lens, some CF
My favorite piece of equipment.. Canon EF 45mm TS-E
An aspect of my business that is challenging... That we're not the only photographers out there... and not even the only good ones.
The forum that I find to be useful.. DWF baby!
The photographer that I respect in my industry is... John Michael Cooper www.altf.com
Doug's favorite image of recent
On my iPod... What iPod??? I have a geeked-out Archos mp3 player, beeeotch
On my feet... hair.
Something you'll always find in my fridge... Louisiana Hot Sauce.
Favorite way to kill time.. Project Gotham Racing 3 on my XBox 360. If I drive fast in real life, I get tickets. And that makes Chenin mad.
Something I can't part with.. Chenin. I've tried to, but the bitch just won't leave. (just kidding baby - you know I love you!)
A must have gadget... GPS. Can't live without it.
Something I still have to do in my life... Move the hell out of Orange County. If I have to endure another 10 minute drive just to get a cup of coffee I'll go crazy. And fake boobs are over-rated.
Something that annoys me... Gwen Stefani. And people that sing along with that goddamned bananas song. The thing that's REALLY bananas is that people like that song.
I'm addicted to.... Video Games. No, seriously. I've been down and out before because of my out-of-control gaming habit. Once robbed a liquor store to buy Quake 2.
If I could have dinner with anyone in the world it would be... George Bush and Jesus. W and JC go waaaayyy back - they were college buds, you know - and I'm sure we'd have a wild time. Wish I was at W's wedding so I could hear Jesus give the best man toast. I'm sure he had some really embarrassing stories. But dinner and drinks with them would still be a blast.
My favorite drink besides water... Naked Juice Green Machine
I'll never miss a... Aquabats show. Seriously, the best band on the planet!
Doug Boutwell, you are my newest favorite fotog! Mainly because your work rocks, and you curse all the time and don't give a damn. Chenin, love your work & hella love your new site.

Well I guess everyone isn't the same and I will be the 1st to say that I am very put off by the cursing. Its unprofessional and disrespectful. So all respect lost here. Even joking his wife is a B* is obnoxiously rude. How sad to have a husband publically joke about her that way. No Thanks man! (Flame me if you will everyones got and oppinion)

Thanks for the luv! Hey Pinky - really sorry I offended. I have a really hard time believing that words can be profane in and of themselves. We can talk politely about killing people for oil - and that's where the real profanity is. Ideas are what are should offend, not letters and sounds, and there's nothing about a little casual profanity that (in my mind) should be offensive if it's used in good fun. Anyway, if you read the bio on the site, you'd know that I put Chenin above anything else in the world, and love her with abandon. And FWIW, she really got a kick out of that particular comment. I meant to be a little tongue-in-cheek (which I think should be obvious), but perhaps that was lost somewhere. Sorry I lost your respect over that, but if that's all it takes, I probably never had it to begin with.
Best,
-db

wow. someone who curses as much as I do!
Posted by: Heather Arellano | July 22, 2006 at 12:47 PM
Ok, so I'm a bit biased as I really like these two. I'm not one to like much profanity at all. But coming out of Doug's mouth or fingers I don't seem to mind. I think it's because of how he does it, it's not because of lack of vocabulary or disrepect or anger. It's just funny.
I guess you really need to look farther with these two. They are not only amazing photographers, but amazing people. They are passionate about what they do, genuine, honest, and totally and completely in love with each other that it's contagious and makes other envious. So although I don't know them one on one real well, I've seen enough of them on-line and on the stage as well as their blog and on the phone, a little in person (more soon), and they are wonderful and I wish I could have the positive outlook on life, love and photography that they do.
Love the site, loved the questionnaire answers, keep it up.
